What’s the best (or worst) bit of career advice you’ve ever received?
As a coach, I’m usually more likely to ask questions than offer unsolicited advice. But I do think there’s real value in hearing other people’s stories – and sometimes, in learning from their mistakes too.
It’s always worth filtering any advice or feedback we receive through our own value system. Do I agree with it? Which parts, if any, feel worth taking on board?
The piece of advice I find myself repeating most often to clients is simple: network. Not necessarily by going to big events or schmoozing, but by having genuine, interesting conversations with interesting people. It’s one of the most valuable things you can do, whatever your career goals might be.
I was excited to share this thought in a recent Stylist Magazine article, which explores the type of advice career coaches repeat the most often.
