⏰ Things take longer than you expect.
I started writing the first draft of this book back in early 2018. It’s taken nearly five years, a global pandemic, having a baby, but it’s finally here!
✅ Progress is better than perfection.
My book is published and I’m so proud of it, but I’m still finding things I want to tweak. I don’t think I will ever feel fully ‘ready’ for it to be out there, but done is better than perfect.
? It’s OK to feel nervous.
I am surprised by how scary it feels to release something that I have created out into the world to be judged. I thought all I would feel is relief and excitement, but the nerves are very much there.
I’m so happy to share that my first book, ‘Graduate Careers Uncovered: Tools and insights from a former recruiter to demystify your job search’ is available to buy now in paperback and e-book.
Here’s a little bit more info about the book…
Leaving university can be an exciting time. It can also feel pretty terrifying.
With newspaper headlines warning that hundreds apply for every graduate position, it’s intimidating trying to stand out against thousands of other keen graduate job seekers. Even working out what type of jobs you want to apply for can be tricky – how do you know what type of career you want if you haven’t got much work experience?
Written by an experienced graduate recruiter and career coach, this book demystifies the entire graduate career journey. You will first get to know yourself on a deeper level, before identifying a clear focus for your job search. You will create a job application strategy, understand what recruiters really look for in job applications and interviews, and learn how to differentiate yourself from other candidates.
This book goes beyond the usual high-level hints and tips, and deep dives into important topics that will enable you to demystify networking, raise your confidence, tackle imposter syndrome and ultimately build a fulfilling career.
