September: Book rejections and sticky floor jobs

My September newsletter is out, and this month I’ve been thinking about my very first publishing rejection letter.

I was 10, and my teacher made a throwaway comment that I should send a short story off to a local publisher, so I did. It was a no, but it sparked something in me.

29 years later, I’ve finally had an offer from a global publisher for my own book. 10-year-old me would never have believed it!
