I used to roll my eyes a bit at the word ‘manifestation’ 🙄
I’m the daughter of a physics teacher, raised to be sceptical of anything that sounded vague or mystical. For a long time, manifestation sat firmly in that category for me.
As I’ve got older, I’ve slowly started to change my mind. Although I still don’t love the way manifesting is often talked about.
The biggest misconception, in my opinion, is that manifestation is passive. That it’s about thinking positively and hoping things will fall into place.
I don’t know how much the universe can do on its own. But I do know there are lots of things WE can do that move us closer to where we want to be.
For me, manifestation is quite practical. It starts with getting clear on what you actually want. Sometimes that clarity is very specific. Other times it’s blurry, and you start by focusing on what you know you DO want, and refining it as you go.
It’s about using your thinking to focus your mindset, so that ideas, options and solutions arise that you might otherwise have missed.
And then, most importantly, taking action. Action isn’t a “nice to have” afterthought. It’s the most important bit! Not frantic action (although I definitely do this sometimes) but intentional, proactive progress towards things that come into view once your attention is focused.
When you know what you’re aiming for, you might notice different conversations, ask different questions, or put your hand up for different things. You follow ideas or paths you might previously have ignored. This could just be a coincidence, positive psychology, or something else.
I still feel a little uncomfortable with the word itself, if I’m honest. But I really believe that where we place our focus shapes what we see, and that clarity plus action can create exciting things.
I’m curious what others think about this way of thinking. Useful? Too woo woo? Something in between?
