Nervous about group coaching? Here’s my experience.

Yesterday I had a call with a former client (and now friend) Alice about my Career Boost Programme. I asked for her feedback on my updated marketing document, specifically on how I present the group coaching element of the programme.

After hearing me talk about my experience running the programme, Alice pointed out: “I’m not sure your excitement and passion for the group coaching element really comes across in this”.

I had to admit – she was probably right. And that conversation inspired me to write this post.

Most people who first reach out to me prefer the idea of working solely one-to-one. So why did I introduce these small group sessions (alongside one-to-one sessions) knowing there might be some hesitation from potential clients?

The answer lies in the photo above.

I’ve experienced first-hand the power of working on personal and professional growth alongside others.

In 2016, I was paired with Kate, Sally, and Sarah for group work as part of a work leadership programme.

Over a few days we learned lots – from the facilitators, as well as each other – as we worked through the principles from John Stepper‘s Working Out Loud book.

The training was great. The book was brilliant. But the real magic came from the follow-up catch-ups our group continued to have for years afterwards.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that just a year after that training, I made the leap from the corporate world and started my own business.

That training, and the relationships I built within it, showed me how powerful it is to grow alongside others.

That passion has only grown as I’ve run the first two Career Boost cohorts and seen participants gain so much from their interactions.

If you’re curious about how this could support your career journey, get in touch – I’m hoping to confirm participants soon!
